Bahrain wins top property awards

The strength and positive impact of Bahrain’s real estate market has been recognized as Riffa Views won 5-star Awards for Best Golf Real Estate Development and Best Marketing Campaign and a 4-star Award for Best Development Website at the prestigious CNBC Arabian Property Awards 2009.

Alfredo Laffitte, CEO of Riffa Views commented: “During the past 18 months the real estate sector has been adversely impacted by the current global economic slowdown. Entries were judged by a panel of professionals whose collective knowledge of the property industry is second to none and unsurpassed by any other property awards. This year’s judges included Eric Pickles, chairman of the Conservative Party, Ben Wood, industry head property markets of Google UK; Peter Bolton King, group chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals; Imtiaz Farookhi, chief executive of the National House Building Council; Christopher Hall, president elect of FIABCI; Wilhelm Harnish, Master Builders of Australia (MBA); Thijs Stoffer, International Consortium of Real Estate Agents Association (ICREA); Helen Shield, editor-in-chief of International Homes magazine and Gillian Farr, head of design of Laura Ashley Home.

Riffa Views hails role of Bahrain Media

Riffa Views honored the members of the media at the “2009 Rave Reviews Media Awards” held last night at Riffa Views’ state-of-the-art conventions center, the Forum building. The media appreciation evening was organized in recognition of the value, commitment, and work of the media which has a proven positive impact on the kingdom in several accounts.

Present at the event were Yasser Al-Raee, Director of Real Estate Investment, Arcapita; Alfredo Laffitte, CEO, Riffa Views; Michael Braidwood, General Manager, Royal Golf Club and Bruce McWilliams, Director of Riffa Views International School. Together, they conveyed the message of the community of Riffa Views and celebrated with the media the milestone of over 50 villas handed over to homeowners.

Residents of Riffa Views voted for the winners of the “Riffa Views Residents Award” by selecting the English and Arabic news medium they considered has Best Taken Bahrain’s Positive Message to the World. The winners of this award were Gulf Daily News and Al Ayam newspapers. The winner of the first-of-its-kind “Riffa Views Best Magazine Cover Award” was Bahrain Confidential magazine. The award witnessed strong voting from the community of Bahrain with over 1,200 votes registered in Riffa Views’ website.

Special Awards were also presented to those members of the media that have executed their job in a unique way and have gone over and above their call of duty. The award for the Most Consistent and Prominent Coverage of Bahrain’s Farming Heritage at the 2009 Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS 09), was presented to Amina Al Zain from Al Waqt newspaper and Anasuyan Kesavan from Gulf Weekly. For Showcasing the Essence of the Eden Challenge at the BIGS 09, Bedoor Al Malki from Al Bilad newspaper. Journalists Karim Hamed from Akhbar Al Khaleej, Bonny Mascarenhas from Bahrain Tribune and Nader Al Ghanem from Al Bilad received an award for their Exceptional Presentation of the Vision of Riffa Views. The magazine Gulf Financial Insider was presented with an award for The most Constructive and Positive Reaction to Client Feedback.

At the event, Mr. Laffitte also unveiled that Riffa Views has won an Award at the Arabian CNBC Property Awards in each of the following categories: Best Golf Residential Development, Best Marketing Campaign and Best Website. Mr. Laffitte added: “I would like to thank all of you, who have been so important in this success. This achievement would not have been possible without your support for the development and growth of not only Riffa Views but of Bahrain as a whole.”

كرمت الرفاع ڤيوز أعضاء وسائل الإعلام في “حفل جوائز الرفاع ڤيوز التقديرية للإعلاميين لعام 2009″ و الذي عقد الليلة الماضية في قاعة المؤتمرات في مركز المنتدى في الرفاع ڤيوز. و قد تم تنظيم حفل توزيع الجوائز للاعتراف بقيمة الالتزام والعمل من قبل وسائل الإعلام التي كان لها تأثير إيجابي على سمعة المملكة في عدة مجالات.

و تحدث في الحفل كل من السيد ياسر الراعي, مدير الاستثمارات العقارية، في بنك آركابيتا ؛ ألفريدو لافيت ، الرئيس التنفيذي للرفاع ڤيوز ؛ مايكل بريدوود ، المدير العام للنادي الملكي للغولف و بروس ماك ويليامز ، مدير مدرسة الرفاع ڤيوز الدولية. و نقلوا معا رسالة الرفاع ڤيوز للمجتمع و الاحتفال مع وسائل الإعلام في مناسبة تسليم أكثر من خمسين منزلا سكنيا لأصحابها من السكان.

وقدمت أيضا جوائز خاصة لبعض وسائل الإعلام و ذلك نظرا لعملهم بطريقة فريدة و جهودهم المتواصلة و التي كانت فوق نداء الواجب. و كانت “جائزة أكثر دعم في التغطية البارزة للزراعة التقليدية في مملكة البحرين في( الرفاع ڤيوز معرض البحرين الدولي للحدائق لعام 2009)” ،حيث تم تسليمها إلى أمينة الزين من جريدة الوقت و أناسويا كيسافان من جريدة جلف ويكلي. و تم تقديم جائزة “إبراز جوهر مسابقة الرفاع ڤيوز و تحدي الحدائق لعام 2009″ تم تقديمها إلى بدور المالكي من جريدة البلاد. كما تم تقديم “جائزة الجهد الاستثنائي لتوصيل رؤية الرفاع ڤيوز” إلى كل من : كريم حامد من جريدة أخبار الخليج ، و بوني ماسكاريناس من جريدة بحرين تريبيون و نادر الغانم من جريدة البلاد . و أخيرا، حصلت مجلة جلف فاينانشال اينسايدر على “جائزة أفضل ردود الفعل والتواصل مع اقتراحات العملاء”.

و كشف ألفريدو لافيت النقاب عن فوز الرفاع ڤيوز في حفل توزيع جوائز العقار لمحطة سي ان بي سي العربية في كل من الفئات التالية : أفضل مشروع ملعب غولف سكني ، أفضل حملة تسويقية وأفضل موقع إلكتروني. و قال السيد لافيت مضيفا : “أود أن أتقدم بالشكر الجزيل للجميع ، حيث شكلوا سببا في غاية الأهمية لتحقيق هذا النجاح. و إن هذا الإنجاز لم يكن ممكنا من دون دعمكم لتطور ونمو الرفاع ڤيوز فقط ولكن من اجل البحرين ككل “.

Khawla school takes top seniors spot in Riffa Views Eden Challenge

In the second of our profiles of the winning schools in the 2009 Riffa Views Eden Challenge, this week’s spotlight falls on the Khawla Secondary Girls School, winners of Category D – for senior students between 16 and 18 years of age. The Khawla School, founded in 1979 and currently ‘home’ to 917 students, came out on top against eight other schools in the secondary school category, all of whom were submitting detailed project designs for ‘water conscious gardens’.

The School’s Eden Challenge project team was selected based on those students showing most interest in participating in the Riffa Views Signature Estates organised schools’ environmental competition. According to the School’s Vice Principal and teachers, the girls on the Eden Challenge team worked incredibly hard to research the Challenge – using the internet and libraries, visiting gardens and plant nurseries all over the island to get ideas for their project.

And their efforts certainly came through, based on what the judges thought of the final project submission; Chris Beardshaw, Chairman of the judging panel, commenting that the judges viewed the Khawla School’s entry as “…. a well considered and well worked scheme that demonstrates a good understanding of the possibilities offered by a designed landscape. The incorporation of the Riffa Views Eden Challenge logo was well received, as was the level of detail and thought demonstrated in the model and associated works.”

Taking part in the Eden Challenge gave the students a great opportunity to learn more about plants and gardens and the environment. They were able to use this new appreciation in their project entry – a water conscious garden, demonstrating a space of beauty and energy where it is possible to enjoy and engage with the outdoor environment. In addition to including innovative water saving devices, the Khawla School students also considered safety aspects such as security exits, facilities for special needs people and the use of environmentally friendly natural products.

All of which found great favour with the Eden Challenge judges, “The standard of workmanship involved in the submission was highly praiseworthy and clearly this represented a significant investment of time and skills.” And not only with the judging panel, also with the rest of the School and the parents of the students taking part in the Challenge, who were all very supportive of the girls’ efforts and delighted to hear of the project’s success.

The School plan to use the category winning cash prize of BD1,000 to improve the School garden and add to the School’s environmental focus in the class-room. The School will also have the pleasure of seeing their entry turned into a real, live garden on the Eden Challenge stand at the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show 2009 (“RVBIGS 2009”) – the judges felt that “…..for the purposes of the Show, a section through the project entry design would be the best way of demonstrating the principles of water movement, use in the landscape and water conservation issues.”

And it won’t just be the design on display at RVBIGS 2009 – the School are looking forward to being as interactive and as creative as they can with visitors to the Eden Challenge stand and already have ideas of printing information flyers and having staff and students, all dressed in relevant costumes, present on the stand during the Show as a way of explaining more about their garden.

Richard Browning, CEO of Riffa Views Signature Estates, welcomes the School’s enthusiasm, “I think it’s great that the School want to be so involved with the stand. They are very proud of their winning entry and rightly so; their desire and commitment to share their garden and its ideas with visitors to the Eden Challenge stand are exactly the type of ongoing interest and commitment to the environment that we were hoping for when we established the Eden Challenge competition. We look forward to working closely with the students and the School at RVBIGS 2009.”

مدرسة خولة الثانوية للبنات تحصل على المركز الأول للفئة الثانوية في الرفاع ڤيوز و تحدي الحدائق

في المرحلة الثانية من لمحات من المدارس الفائزة في الرفاع ڤيوز و تحدي الحدائق 2009 ، هذا الأسبوع يتم إلقاء الضوء على مدرسة خولة الثانوية للبنات ، و هي المدرسة الفائزة في الفئة دال – للمرحلة الثانوية ما بين 16 و 18 سنة. و قد تأسست مدرسة خولة في عام 1979 ، وحاليا تشمل 917 طالبة ، وجاءت على رأس القائمة ضد ثماني مدارس أخرى في فئة المدرسة الثانوية ، جميعهم ممن قدموا التصاميم التفصيلية للحدائق المائية المدركة للمياه.

تم اختيار فريق مشروع المدرسة المقدم للتحدي على أساس الاهتمام الذي تظهره الطالبات من خلال الرغبة في المشاركة في مسابقة الرفاع ڤيوز البيئية. ووفقا للمديرة المساعدة و الهيئة التدريسية ، والطالبات العاملات على التحدي فإنهم قد قاموا البحوث و الطالعة حيث كانت صعبة جدا – من خلال استخدام شبكة الانترنت والمكتبات ، وزيارة الحدائق والمشاتل الزراعية في جميع أنحاء البحرين للحصول على أفكار لهذا المشروع.

وجاء الفوز من خلال جهود فريق العمل بالتأكيد ، و بناء على ما يعتقد القضاة من تقديم المشروع النهائي ؛و كان لكريس بيردشو ، رئيس لجنة الحكم ، رأيه الخاص بنتيجة مشاركة مدرسة خولة “.إن المشروع مدروس ومخطط بشكل جيد و إن هذا العمل يدل على الفهم الجيد من الإمكانيات التي توفرها البيئة ، وهو مصمم جميل للمناظر الطبيعية. إدماج شعار الرفاع ڤيوز للتحدي كانت فكرة حسنة ، وكذلك على مستوى الفكر حيث بينت بالتفصيل في النموذج وما يرتبط بها من أعمال “.

مشاركة الطالبات في التحدي أعطاهم فرصة كبيرة لمعرفة المزيد عن النباتات والحدائق والبيئة. حيث استخدموا هذا التقدير الجديد في دخول المشروع –بحديقة شاملة مدركة لأهمية المياه، حيث تتوافر المساحات الجمالية و الطاقة، حيث يمكن التمتع بها والتعامل مع البيئة الخارجية. بالإضافة إلى ابتكار الأجهزة الموفرة للمياه ، و تطرقت طالبات مدرسة خولة أيضا إلى جوانب السلامة مثل الأمن والمخارج ، وبعض المرافق لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة ، واستخدام المنتجات الصديقة للبيئة الطبيعية.

كل هذ وجد تأييدا كبيرا من قبل لجنة التحكيم ، حيث قالوا “مستوى المشاركة في العمل وال تقديم جديرة بالثناء والتقدير وكان من الواضح أن هذا يمثل استثمارا كبيرا من الوقت والمهارات.” وليس فقط مع لجنة الحكم ، وكذلك مع بقية المدرسة وأهالي الطلاب يشاركون في هذا التحدي ، وكانوا جميعا دعما كبيرا من الفتيات والجهود المبذولة لسماع مسرور من نجاح المشروع.

المدرسة تخطط لاستخدام الجائزة المالية و المقدرة بألف دينار بحريني لتحسين الحديقة المدرسية و الإضافة إلى بيئتها المتركزة في الصفوف الدراسية. كما سترى المدرسة الحلم يتحول إلى حقيقية ، حيث سيتم بنائها في موقع الرفاع ڤيوز و تحدي الحائق في ” الرفاع ڤيوز معرض البحرين الدولي للحدائق 2009″ — ورأى القضاة أن ” من خلال الدخول في تصميم المشروع لأغراض للعرض ستكون أفضل وسيلة لإظهار مبادئ حركة المياه واستخدامها في المناظر الطبيعية والمياه “.

وأنه لن يكون مجرد التصميم الذي سيعرض في RVBIGS 2009 – حيث تتطلع المدرسة إلى التفاعل والإبداع بقدر ما تستطيع مع زوار موقع التحدي وبالفعل فإنهم يفكرون حاليا بطباعة النشرات والمعلومات التي لديها من الطالبات و المدرسات ، و يود فريق المدرسة أن يلبسوا ملابس موحدة ، حيث ستكون كوسيلة لشرح المزيد عن حديقتهم و التي قاموا بتصميمها في موقع الرفاع ڤيوز.

و رحب ريتشارد براوننج ، الرئيس التنفيذي للرفاع ڤيوز بحماس المدرسة، وقال “اعتقد انه لشيء رائع أن تشارك المدرسة في هذا التحدي. و نحن متأكدين من أنهم فخورون جدا من الفوز ؛ و رغبتهم في الالتزام بتقديم الحديقة و تبادل الأفكار مع الزوار في موقع الرفاع ڤيوز و تحدي الحدائق في “الرفاع ڤيوز معرض البحرين الدولي للحدائق” هي بالضبط نوع من الاهتمام والالتزام المستمر للبيئة الذي كنا نأمل عندما أنشأنا التحدي. ونحن نتطلع إلى العمل عن كثب مع الطلاب، والمدرسة في “الرفاع ڤيوز معرض البحرين الدولي للحدائق” عام 2009. ”
