Riffa Views turns on full power to world-class facilities

Riffa Views sets a new milestone as its world-class golf facilities are switched into full power mode. The golf Clubhouse, the underground car park and the Academy building now all have a permanent power supply from the 66 KV primary sub-station located on site.

This landmark follows the switch on of the permanent power supply in August 2008 to the Riffa Views International School, which is just completing its first full year of operation, and to several of the completed villas on the development. The remaining sub-stations will be gradually energized as the main villa handover phase commences during the summer and autumn months.

Alfredo Laffitte, Chief Executive Officer of Riffa Views commented: “This infrastructure milestone is further proof of our continuing commitment to achieve an efficient completion and delivery of the project. A reliable power supply to the development has been established before the main villa handover phase commences. The completion of these and other key elements of the development’s infrastructure assist in guaranteeing the sustainability of the Riffa Views’ community.”

The project features three 66 KV facilities and 42 secondary sub-stations around the site. Two of the development’s 66 KV facilities were completed and energized in April 2008 and supply power to the entire development through a network of underground cables. This state-of-the-art infrastructure system guarantees that the project will meet the anticipated demand for power in years to come.

Construction work at Riffa Views continues to make progress with 60 per cent of the road network now completed and the construction of the Riffa Views Country Club is due for completion in July 2009. There will be additional milestones achieved in July 2009 when the Park and Lagoons gatehouses are completed and The Royal Golf Club gatehouse is opened for exclusive use by members and visitors of the Club.

Nadia Swan to climb Kilimanjaro for Bahrain and the Palm Association Charity

Riffa Views’ homeowner and former Bahrain resident, Nadia Swan, begins her charity climb today as she is set to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, to raise funds for the Palm Association in Bahrain.

The Palm Association is an active local charity organization that was formed to help the many needy Bahraini families living in poor conditions in villages across the Kingdom. Over the years, hundreds of families have been sent monthly food parcels, had their homes which were in serious disrepair renovated, and dedicated Bahraini students who could not otherwise afford the fees have been sponsored through university courses which should enable them to find employment to support themselves and their families.

Nadia Swan, visited Riffa Views and commented on the support received from the development of which she is a homeowner: “I had a huge boost right at the beginning from Riffa Views who were the first company I approached for sponsorship. Riffa Views’ support for local community initiatives has not only benefited Bahrain as a whole, it has also established a platform that we, as members of the Riffa Views’ community can build on in the future. Once the development is completed and the project team moves onto new challenges, it will be up to us, the homeowners, to continue and sustain the community projects that Riffa Views have supported over the years.”

BMI Honours Charity Golf Sponsors

Muneera Bin Hindi, President of Bahrain Mobility International (BMI) hosted a special evening recognizing and thanking the sponsors of the Shaikh Faisal Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Memorial Trophy golf tournament. The tournament, which was held in March at Safriya Palace, raised BD30 000 for the charity.

“On behalf of everyone involved with Bahrain Mobility International, I would like to give thanks to all the tournament sponsors for their generosity,” said Muneera at the ceremony which was held at the charity’s premises in Isa Town. “This was the final year of Riffa Views title sponsorship of the event and I would particularly like to recognize them for all their kind support over the past three years. The money raised each year from this wonderful tournament is vital for maintaining and enhancing the facilities at the centre for the disabled people of Bahrain.”

In response, Alfredo Laffitte, CEO from Riffa Views said “For the past three years, Riffa Views was able to assist, in a tangible manner, those members of our society which need our support. As the development approaches its final stages of completion, we are now transferring our community support towards the community of Riffa Views. Therefore, we encourage other corporate institutions to support this worthwhile charity event in the years to come as any kind of assistance is valuable to improve the quality of life of people with limited mobility.”

Also present at the ceremony were Adel Sultan of Bahrain Mobility International, Michael Braidwood, General Manager of the Royal Golf Club who were responsible for organizing and running the tournament, Dreena Rogers, Liaison Office for Bahrain Mobility International as well as a number of representatives of the various tournament sponsors. Several disabled patrons of the charity’s facilities also attended.

The fourth Shaikh Faisal Charity golf tournament in aid of Bahrain Mobility is due to be held in March 2010, once again on His Majesty the King’s golf course at Safriya Palace. Bahrain Mobility International is a social, general and non-profit making centre located in Isa Town and run entirely on charitable donations. Established in 1979, it provides social rehabilitation and services to the disabled in Bahrain. The BMI centre also offers training workshops to those with special needs and helps them to produce goods for sale or exhibition. The BMI centre has a kindergarten nursery for children aged 3 – 6 years attached to it which prepares the children for actual school studies. The nursery also accepts non disabled children, thus helping the integration of disabled children into the community.
