Riffa Views’ Media Awards, An Evening to Remember

Riffa Views “Rave Reviews” Media Awards ceremony, the first-ever media awards in the country, was an evening to remember for all the media representatives that attended the event. The awards evening, which was held yesterday at the Gulf Hotel, was organized in line with Riffa Views’ recognition of the value and commitment of the local media to Bahrain and aimed to thank those that take Bahrain’s positive message to the world.

The event started with a speech given by the Director of Sales & Marketing at Riffa Views, Hugh O’Shea: “Our objective in organizing this Media Awards is to thank all of you for taking Bahrain’s message to the world and for your essential support and commitment to Bahrain’s community as well as your continuous cooperation which has greatly enabled Riffa Views to become the most admired development in Bahrain. Tonight we wish to recognize your work which has a proven positive impact on the kingdom,” said O’Shea.

Richard Browning, CEO of Riffa Views, emphasized the value of the press to Riffa Views: “Along two years the media have been greatly instrumental in helping us achieve our success. We strongly believe in the value of the press to the kingdom as you play a key role in delivering messages and ideas, not only locally but regionally and internationally. This is why today we want to recognize the people that take Bahrain’s message to the world,” said Browning.

Then Mr. Browning together with Mr. O’Shea presented the Media Awards starting with the daily and the weekly newspapers; Akhbar Al Khaleej, Al Ayam, Al Meethaq, Al Waqt, Al Wasat, Al Watan, Bahrain Tribune, Gulf Daily News and Gulf Weekly. Then, the magazines including; Aqar, Arabian Homes, Arabian Knight, Areej, Bahrain Confidential, Bahrain This Month, Clientele, FACT, Gulf Construction, Gulf Financial Insider, Layalina, Mondanite, Ohlala and Woman This Month. Riffa Views also awarded Radio Bahrain, Voice FM, along with Channels 44 and 55.

Special Awards were also presented to those that have gone over and above their call of duty. Renowned Krazy Kevin, David Becket, Bahrain T.V, GDN photographer, Jaffar Ali, Bahrain This Month photographer, Shankar Kunhambu and Bahrain Confidential photographer Habeed Palacel.

The winner of first-of-its-kind “Riffa Views Media’s Choice Award 2008” was Gulf Daily News. The award witnessed strong voting for two weeks as the medium was chosen by its peers based on its ongoing commitment to the communities of Bahrain. O’Shea expressed admiration for the huge voting the competition received which, he said, reflected how active and supportive the local media are.

At the end of the event, Riffa Views CEO, Richard Browning, thanked all the media for attending the event. “The awards we present tonight are a public recognition by us of your support for the development and growth of not only Riffa Views but of Bahrain as a whole. Let us work jointly to keep the heart and soul of the Country and not lose the traditions that have to date made Bahrain the great place it is,” he said

Riffa Views are Official Sponsors of GCC 10th Television and Radio Production Festival

Management of Riffa Views together with Bahrain TV officials announced the Riffa Views’ sponsorship of the 10th GCC Television and Radio Production Festival to be held from the 22nd – 24th of April in Bahrain. The announcement was made during a signing ceremony held yesterday at the Gulf Hotel. Richard Browning, CEO of Riffa Views, along with Hassan Abdulkarim, CEO of Bahrain TV and Radio Corporation, signed the sponsorship agreement for this Festival organized with the aim of reinforcing the bonds and co-operation between Bahrain’s media and their GCC and Arab counterparts.

The Riffa Views-sponsored festival, which will take place in the Gulf Hotel and the Bahrain Cultural Hall, is held every two years in different GCC countries. This popular event has already attracted around 700 top-level executives in the industry including ministers, top executives, actors, singers, TV presenters and other high net worth individuals from the Arab world. In addition, a total of 47 production companies and T.V channels are arriving to the country.

Mr. Browning commented: “Our sponsorship of the GCC Television and Radio Production Festival comes as part of our commitment to Bahrain’s community and our belief that it will enable media members to hold dialogue and discuss new ideas that will benefit the industry. We trust the festival will be very successful and it will reinforce Bahrain’s status as a cultural hub.”

Preparations are in full swing for the Riffa Views “Rave Reviews” Media Awards, the first-ever media awards in the country, which will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Gulf Hotel. The event, which comes in line with Riffa Views’ recognition to the value and commitment of the press to Bahrain, aims to thank the people that take Bahrain’s positive message to the world.

This event will also include a first-of-its-kind “Riffa Views Media’s Choice Award 2008” which is witnessing strong voting as the time for announcing the winner is approaching. This medium will be chosen by its peers based on its ongoing commitment to the communities of Bahrain
