Riffa Views’ volunteers paint AMH Pediatric Clinic

March 24, 2008

An enthusiastic group of Riffa Views’ volunteers painted the reception of the American Mission Hospital Pediatric Clinic, of which Riffa Views has been the official Sponsor for two years. Riffa Views’ sponsorship of the Clinic is part of its Platinum Sponsorship in 2006, and Diamond Sponsorship in 2007, of the AMH Island Classic Golf Charity Tournament. All proceeds were utilized to further improve and upgrade the Pediatric Clinic’s medical services.

The volunteers creatively painted a mural on one of the Clinic’s walls, depicting the sculpture which was designed by the pupils of the Umm Salama Girls Intermediate School that participated in the recent Riffa Views Eden Challenge. The sculpture won the Intermediate Category of the Riffa Views Eden Challenge and was also recognized as the overall winning display of the Eden Challenge Exhibits Stand at the recent Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show 2008.

Bahnaz Abbas, Marketing & Development Coordinator and Island Classic Organizer said, “I was delighted when I saw the beautiful drawing in the Riffa Views Eden Challenge calendar. When I realized that it was the overall winning entry of the Eden Challenge, I couldn’t think of a better theme for the Pediatric Clinic. The volunteers did a brilliant job and the clinic looks wonderful. The refurbished clinic will be officially opened on the 7th of April, which is also the International Health Day.”

Paul Armerding, CEO/ Chief Medical Officer of AMH added, ‘We are very appreciative of the kind support we receive from sponsors such as Riffa Views. This enables AMH to increase continually the level of health care we offer. Over and above the procurement of medical equipment, their current sponsorship has also enabled us to give the clinic a totally new look.”

“The continuous support of initiatives which reach across the broader community is part of the Riffa Views corporate culture. We are most pleased that our commitment in this instance can be of benefit to Bahrain’s youngest generation,” said Hugh O’Shea, Sales and Marketing Director, Riffa Views.

Riffa Views’ Tree Planting Initiative Contributes to a Greener Bahrain

The Riffa Views Eden Challenge Tree-planting Initiative ended today with the last tree being planted during a closing ceremony at Al Khawarizmi Boy’s School. To celebrate the occasion, the pupils acted a special performance highlighting some Bahraini traditions including reading Surahs from the Holy Qurán, pearl diving and basket weaving.

A total of 64 schools have benefited from this environmental responsibility with a total of 88 trees planted over the last two months. This initiative was developed by Riffa Views in a bid to add greenery and improve the environment in Bahrain. In addition to the trees planted at the schools, an equivalent number will be planted within Riffa Views in a special Education Grove as a lasting reminder of the Eden Challenge and the passion of all the children involved in the competition.

Richard Browning CEO of Riffa Views commented: “The tree planting initiative has given us the opportunity to make a lasting footprint on the environment and to nurture a new generation of environmentally aware children. We like to lead by example, and we would encourage other companies to join the effort in supporting local environmental initiatives. With every tree planted, an investment is being made in the future for the health of Bahrain’s community.”

Aisha Hilal Principal of the Al Khawarizmi Boy’s School commented: “We participated in the Riffa Views Eden Challenge to encourage our children to be more caring about the environment. Through this tree planting initiative we were able to get the message across to the students that we need their help in improving the environment. Our school already runs an internal gardening program and this tree planting will certainly highlight how trees can enhance our gardens.”
