Riffa Views announced the winning schools in Categories B ‘Primary’; C ‘Intermediate’; and D ‘Secondary’, of the Riffa Views Eden Challenge. The competition was developed by Riffa Views as part of its title sponsorship of The Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show 2008 (RVBIGS 2008).
As reported last week, the judging process was very challenging since all of the entries exceeded the expectations of Riffa Views and the judges when they set the brief for the competition. “It was amazing walking into the competition room last week, said Richard Browning, Chief Executive Officer of Riffa Views; “the variety and complexity of the entries was phenomenal and we congratulate all the participating schools. We hope that the competition adds to the environmental and landscaping experience of all those children involved and as such, all of them become winners.”
Such was the quality submitted that the judges felt it necessary to award joint winners in two of the three categories, plus issue additional ‘Highly Commended’ certificates in several instances. After a great deal of discussion between the judges, led by Riffa Views Signature Ambassador, Chris Beardshaw, they finally agreed on the following category winners:

The winning entrants’ projects will be built by Riffa Views and displayed on The Riffa Views Eden Challenge stands at the RVBIGS 2008. “This is a major part of what makes the competition so special”, Riffa Views Signature Ambassador Chris Beardshaw commented, “I am sure that when the winning entries are built up into show stands they will look spectacular and really catch the eye of the visitors to the Show.”
The winning schools will all be involved in helping Riffa Views to translate their projects into real-life – the Primary category joint winners’ design will be transformed into a mosaic of fresh flowers and plants, grown by the students of both schools, Al Iman School and the Arabian Pearl Gulf School. The sculpture designed by The Umm Salama Girls Intermediate School which won the Intermediate category will be built into a stand centre-piece.
The two Secondary category winning designs were the peaceful, tranquil garden setting from Al Naseem International School and the detailed creation of a fine garden from Hamad Town Secondary Girls School.
The winning schools in the three categories announced today, together with the winners of the other two categories – Junior Primary for children of 6 – 9 years old and Special Needs covering children up to the age of 18, which will be judged on 19th February 2008, will all receive their awards at the RVBIGS 2008 Opening Ceremony.
All of the displays, including the winning entries from the Junior Primary and Special Needs’ categories, will be on display throughout the RVBIGS 2008 which runs from 22nd to 24th February 2008 at The Bahrain Exhibition Centre. The students involved in the design and creation of the stunning winning displays will be on hand to explain their projects. Students will enjoy the excitement and pride of being part of such a reputable and regionally recognised show.

Today, Riffa Views – as part of its title sponsorship for the second year running of the “Riffa Views Shaikh Faisal Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Memorial Trophy” and in support of the Bahrain Mobility International (BMI) – donated a specialist wheelchair to Ahmed Jaffar, a young adult with special needs.
The wheelchair is highly manoeuverable, durable and easy to carry – all features which can greatly improve the quality of life of a person with limited mobility. Riffa Views’ commitment to this charitable cause is in line with its long-term objective to encourage the youth of Bahrain in sports, education and social development.
Richard Browning, CEO of Riffa Views said: “Although the ‘Riffa Views Shaikh Faisal Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Memorial Trophy’ is based around a golf event, I am sure that many companies and individuals would wish to add their support, even if they do not participate in golf. We would like to encourage those people to contribute in a way that adds support to the event and provides something tangible for all those with special needs.”
“The majority of adults and children who attend BMI are in desperate need of a specialized wheelchair, not only to give mobility, but to stop their condition from getting worse. In addition to our overall support for BMI, we have contributed BD1,000 to purchase one of these wheelchairs for one of the young adults. Similar contributions would provide wheelchairs for the other kids or adults at the centre, so if golf is not your chosen sport, then please donate in support of the ‘Riffa Views Shaikh Faisal Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Memorial Trophy’ and let BMI purchase a wheelchair in your name.”
To make a donation to BMI, please call Dreena Rogers, Liaison Officer and Fundraiser, on 39615356.
